110-year-old enmity between two families ends in E. Afghanistan

KABUL, April 28 (Xinhua) -- With the mediation of tribal elders and chieftains backed by the provincial administration, a century-old enmity between two families has come to an end in eastern Afghanistan's Paktia province, the state-run Bakhtar news agency reported on Monday.

The 110-year-old enmity over the dispute for ownership of a piece of land in Sayed Karam district, which claimed two lives, was over peacefully and turned to friendship recently, Nasir Ahmad Tayed, provincial director for borders and tribal affairs, was quoted as saying.

Efforts were underway to solve 75 more such cases as part of efforts to ensure reconciliation, brotherhood and friendship among people in society, the official said. ■
