TEHRAN, April 29 (Xinhua) -- The 7th Exhibition of Export Potential of the Islamic Republic of Iran, known as Iran Expo 2025, opened in the Iranian capital here on Monday.

Over 800 major Iranian companies have put their latest products and achievements on display at the five-day exhibition, Iran's largest and most significant export event aiming to promote engagement with international markets, the official IRNA news agency said in a report on Monday.

Some 2,500 traders and businessmen from 106 countries as well as officials from 39 countries have been invited to attend the event, IRNA reported, adding that the event will provide foreign participants with the opportunity to negotiate and trade with major Iranian brands involved in various industrial sectors.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian expressed Iran's readiness to engage in scientific, economic, cultural, political, and social cooperation with other countries, highlighting the nation's "strategic" geographical position, according to a statement published on his office's website.

Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Atabak said the presence of business people and private sector representatives from other countries at the exhibition was indicative of the global trust in Iran's export capacities.

He said that in the previous Iranian calendar year, which ended on March 20, 2025, Iran exported 152 million tons of products worth 57.8 billion U.S. dollars, putting the value of the country's foreign trade transactions in the same period at 130 billion dollars, which was 11 percent higher than the preceding year's figure.

Atabak said Iran's trade balance, excluding gold imports, became positive last year, posting a surplus of 8 billion dollars.
