HO CHI MINH CITY, Vietnam, April 30 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam on Wednesday held a grand ceremony, military parade and mass march in Ho Chi Minh City to mark the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South and national reunification.
Vietnamese leaders, including General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee To Lam, President Luong Cuong, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man, attended the event along with representatives from various sectors.
In his speech, Lam said Vietnam has drawn valuable lessons from its past struggle and, under the Party's leadership, has focused on national reconstruction and development.
Lam called for unleashing all resources and potential to drive economic growth, and reaffirmed Vietnam's commitment to build a future of peace, prosperity, solidarity and development together with the international community.
The celebration began with an aerial display featuring helicopters and fighter jets, followed by parade formations and mass marches. ■
