2025 Sunpadow International RC On-Road Grand Prix kicks off in Xiamen

XIAMEN, China, June 19 (Xinhua) -- The 2025 Sunpadow International RC On-Road Grand Prix kicked off on Thursday in Xiamen, a coastal city in southeast China's Fujian Province.

The remote control vehicle competition features four programs, the 1/8 GP on-road race, 1/8 EP on-road race, 1/10 TC modified race and 1/10 TC stock race, with a prize of 150,000 yuan (about 20,859 U.S. dollars). The Grand Prix has attracted players from more than 15 countries and regions such as Singapore, UK, Russia, Thailand, Australia, Canada, Portugal and Japan.

It was the second time for Andy Moore, a UK RC driver, to compete in China since 2018. He said that China's RC racing had developed quickly in recent years.

"Almost all the batteries, speed controls and motors are from Chinese companies. They are all very high quality and easy to use. It is very good for us. Moreover, China has emerged more high level RC racing contestants, which is very exciting," Moore said.

Bruno Coelhos, a Portuguese RC driver with many championships, said that he had came to Xiamen for the Grand Prix four times.

"I think China is the leader in RC car manufacturing industry. About 80 percent of the RC car brands are made in China. China is also the biggest market in RC car industry. So it's always great to be here to meet the new technology and all the new things. There are a lot of people racing and it's my pleasure to share my experience and also to receive experience from the racers here," Coelhos said. ■
