RIYADH, June 19 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund (PIF) said on Thursday it has launched Expo 2030 Riyadh Company to build and operate the facilities for Expo 2030 Riyadh.
The company will start work immediately and collaborate with local and international private sector partners in construction, cultural programming, and event organization, the PIF said in a statement.
After the Expo concludes, the company plans to convert the event site into a global village, featuring retail, dining and entertainment offerings to create a multicultural hub.
The Expo 2030 Riyadh master plan spans 6 million square meters, making it one of the largest World Expo sites. The venue will be located north of Riyadh, near the planned King Salman International Airport, with direct links to the Saudi capital's landmarks.
Expo 2030 Riyadh is scheduled to run from October 2030 to March 2031. Riyadh was awarded hosting rights in November 2024, winning the vote in the first round. ■
